APRIL NEWSLETTER:

Hi Gigi,

Happy spring! For those of you who attended our March event with Dr. Caroline Fleck, here is a link to her book, Validation: How the Skill Set That Revolutionized Psychology Will Transform Your Relationships, Increase Your Influence, and Change Your Life. I have spoken with many of you about how refreshing and powerful it was for her to connect her personal experiences with her research to illustrate the impact validation has on us and our relationships. Her book is equally impressive!

Here are some upcoming events for your consideration:

May 12: Join me in volunteering with Vikki Bowes-Mokk at Garden 2 Table SV on Monday, May 12th from 4:00-5:30 PM. Please let me know if you plan to join us and sign up with them here.

May 21: Our May speaker is Jill Fordyce, author of the novel Belonging. Spanning three decades, Belonging is about first love and heartbreak, friendship and secrets, family and forgiveness, hometowns and coming of age, and memory and music. The heart of the story is Jenny’s struggle to undo the binds of a childhood that have deeply affected her life, the painful path to love endured by children raised in alcoholic families, and the grim reality of believing you must hide a part of yourself in order to belong.

We hope you will gather with us for a thoughtful conversation about the importance of feeling a sense of true belonging (as opposed to trying to fit in), how sometimes we need to create family with people outside of our family of origin, and the benefits of having other supportive adults beyond one’s parents.

June 30: I am honored that we have been selected as one of the stops for Shannon Watts’ official book tour. She will join us on Monday, June 30th from 6-8PM for a conversation about her book: Fired Up: How to Turn Your Spark into a Flame and Come Alive at Any Age. I have read an advance copy and it is outstanding! Whether you are hungry to shake things up in your personal or professional life, she will inspire you with practical advice and the stories of women who challenge old systems in favor of living for their own desires. Please note that the ticket price for this event includes a copy of her book. Tickets here. This event may sell out, so please buy your ticket today.

July 16: Our July event is another special one because we will be joined by a mother-daughter duo, Mary Gardner and Kimberly Mulcahy, who will speak to us about the unique ways women lead… in their families, in the workplace, and in their communities. They will engage us in an exercise to understand our own strengths and opportunities for growth based on the research in Mary’s book with co-author Linda Lambert: Women’s Ways of Leading: Revisited. Tickets coming soon!

Here's to new learning and finding a deeper sense of connection and purpose together, Gigi!

Love,

Shana
